HAVING FUN WITH SWITCH ACTIVITIES
When considering switch use for young children
we look to battery operated toys that when turned on will
wiggle, moo, move, vibrate, or make loud or soft sounds.
This is a great place to start as children quickly learn
that their activation of the switch keeps the toy on. However,
we find that the toys need to be frequently changed as simply
turning something on and off doesn’t result in sustained
fun.
Through the Let’s Play! Project we have
collected ways families use switches throughout the child’s
day for more participation in a variety of home activities/routines.
The following is a list of “family sponsored”
ideas that have been found to work!
